Are there XSD files for the different types of XML we can write describing our application?
It would be nice to reference these files and be able to get our IDEs to help recognize what fields and what properties are possible when writing our app’s metadata.
At one point in time, the LEAF team created one for 2.x LEAF, but struggled to figure out how to host it given LEAF is not open-sourced. There is no currently maintained XSD for BeanMetadata in 3.x, though. Definitely feel free to put in a feature request!
You may already know about this but one thing that might help a bit (although not tightly IDE integrated) is the gradle metadata formatter and the constants generator. Both tools provide some helpful information regarding any XML errors during the build process rather than waiting until runtime.
Thank you for the response. We actually make use of the constants generators at build time with gradle to write generated code.
This is a minor issue, but I was hopeful at getting my IDE to pick up tags that I can choose from when writing metadata for our app.
We currently have tests that make an in-memory backed version of our app for more “integration” like tests. These tests will blow up if we’ve done something wrong in the metadata, so we don’t have to wait to deploy it out to the local cluster to figure out we’ve gone astray.
