Does LEAF support Java 21? Have any projects used it so far?
If not or if unknown, are there any plans to support the latest Java LTS (21)? And if LEAF does add support for Java 21 in the future, will 17 still be supported or will domain teams be expected to upgrade too?
Also are there plans to support Java 25 which is the next LTS that becomes available September this year?
Follow up: has anyone used LEAFctl to install Java 21 with certs? Seems like there’s no valid version override for that on 3.16.0. Are there any any issues or anything to be aware of?
Hi Mark,
LEAF should currently support both Java 17 and 21.
Hope that helps,
Beth

Awesome, Beth! Thanks.
@cody.w.jackson do you know about LEAFctl if there’s a way to install it? Or is this:
java - Install Java (valid version overrides are 'java11' and 'java17')
implying that only 11 and 17 can be installed for now?
As of 3.16.0 java21 IS a valid version for the java install. That log statement wasn’t updated properly. So leafctl install java -oc -p <your-custom-install-path> -v java21 should get you up and running with Java 21.
